Mbukobe People and the Life-Changing Impact of a Borehole from Race Foundation
For years, the people of Mbukobe in Igbeagu endured the harsh reality of life without access to clean water. Women relied on earth ponds or shallow wells for drinking water, while children began their mornings trekking long distances in search of water. Often, these efforts proved fruitless, forcing children to attend school unbathed despite the sweltering heat.
In January 2024, hope arrived when the RACE Foundation, in collaboration with the Sam Omogo Foundation, intervened to address this dire situation. Touched by their plight, a borehole was drilled. This borehole is the only reliable source of clean water for hundreds in the neighborhood. This borehole has transformed daily life in Mbukobe, offering relief and dignity to the neighbourhood that had been neglected for far too long. But what is a borehole for hundreds of households? We need to do more.
